A safe workplace protects both your workers and your workplace.  It’s important to have a Workplace Safety Program in place that outlines the processes, procedures and guidelines for your employees to follow.  The program will help mitigate risks on the job site, as well as reduce instances of injury or illness.  It’s important that all employees of your organization take part in upholding the Workplace Safety Program!

Safety Tips for your Workplace

There are many ways in which you can keep your workplace safe.  Here are our top twelve:

  1. Be alert and awake on the job.
  2. Keep your work areas and stations clean and uncluttered.
  3. Never skip steps or take shortcuts.
  4. Be aware of your surroundings.
  5. Use all tools, machines and equipment properly.
  6. Wear protective equipment when required.
  7. Maintain proper posture (especially when lifting/carrying).
  8. Stay up-to-date on current procedures and processes.
  9. Keep emergency exits easily accessible.
  10. Take regular breaks.
  11. Communicate hazards to other personnel.
  12. Report any unsafe conditions.
