According to the Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute, 27% of Canadian adults are involved in a sport.  This number is much higher for kids aged 3-17, with 84% of Canadian kids being involved in a sport, 60% of those being organized sports, according to a study done by SRG.

What is Sports Liability Coverage anyway?

Sports Liability includes general liability coverage for the host of a sporting event. It also provides coverage for injury to participants for sporting activities that qualify.  This coverage also protects against third party lawsuits that allege that property damage or bodily injury was sustained by a spectator or athletic participant for which the host is liable for.

Exclusions

As with all types of insurance, some exclusions apply:

  • Sporting accidents where there is no fault or liability of the Host.
  • Participant to Participant – no coverage is offered for liability for claims arising from bodily injury caused by the acts and/or omissions of any participant towards another participant.
