We would like to take this time to wish all of our clients, friends, family and associates a very Happy New Year 2024!
2023 was another busy year and we still can’t believe it’s come to an end! The years seem to fly by faster and fast the older we get. This year brought us some amazing new Team members, a lot of industry changes, and a few challenges, as most years do. Like everyone else, our Team also felt the impact of the rapidly increasing cost of food and fuel, rising interest rates, and inflation. Our hope is that things have finally leveled off and we’ll start to see some improvement in 2024.
We typically start off our year with the Calgary Motorcycle Show in January. It was cancelled for the third year in a row in 2023, but we’ve been told it’s a go for February 2024, so we look forward to seeing you there!
The Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta (IBAA) broker convention took place in May. Due to our busy schedules, we weren’t able to take part in the full convention, however our Operations Manager was able to attend the trade show portion and connect with some of our fellow brokers and insurance company partners! We look forward to attending this spring and taking part in all that the convention has to offer.
We attended the Cochrane Chamber of Commerce trade show for the second year in a row. It was a great way to meet new people, local business owners, and to get our name out there to a lot of the folks who have recently made the beautiful town of Cochrane their new home! We continue to sponsor the CochraneNow 91.5 morning show as well. Tune-in to hear our great ads!
We welcomed five new Head Office Team members this year: Helen Kasinos, Personal Lines Manager, Erin Kittridge, Document Control Administrator, Huy Lao, Personal Insurance Broker, Brent Milburn, Commercial Insurance Broker, and Corey Maetche, Personal Insurance Broker. We also said goodbye to Janet Owen, who retired this past October.
We celebrated several anniversaries again this year, the big ones being twenty-five (25) for Crista Costen, sixteen (16) years for both Andrew Shareski and Nirmal Lombsar, thirteen (13) years for Kristel Wilson, twelve (12) years for Karen Sandeman, and seven (7) years for Nivi Uppal. We are so fortunate to have such amazing people as part of the Costen Family!
To kick off summer, we held our annual Stampede Breakfast and had an amazing turnout!
We had the pleasure of attending a few new events in Cochrane this year, including sponsoring the Cochrane Bull Riding event in August, taking part in a very fun (and very wet) Labour Day Parade, and then attending the Cochrane Chamber of Commerce fall trade show in October.
Our designated charity partner for 2020 and beyond is the Helping Families Handle Cancer Foundation. 2023 was another successful year with referrals (Thank You) and we are looking forward to sending them a donation at the end of the year. The charity has made some significant changes in the last two years, including creating a bursary program, starting an annual charity golf tournament (which some of our Team attended) and a complete refresh of their branding.
