We had the pleasure of attending the 2014 IBAA (Insurance Brokers Associations of Alberta) Convention in beautiful Jasper, Alberta last week. It was a busy couple of days complete with seminars, meetings, and of course great food and company! One of the highlights of this year’s convention was the keynote speaker on Monday morning, the lovely Arlene Dickinson! If you are a fan of the TV show Dragon’s Den, you know who she is. Arlene shared with us about her childhood and challenges and successes, and everyone went home with a copy of her newest book, titled “All In”. She even threw in a treat from one of her Dragon’s Den successes, OMG’s. If you haven’t tried them yet, we highly recommend that you do!
Some other highlights of the convention were the President’s Ball, where the new President and board of the IBAA were introduced and welcomed, the amazing and breathtaking scenery at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and my personal favorite… Moose Milk (kindly provided by Crawford and Associates). If you haven’t tried Moose Milk, you’re missing out! Although we are unsure of the exact recipe, please click here for one that we found on-line that should be close.
Over all it was a great few days away from the Office to bond with our fellow Insurance Brokers and company representatives, learn about new and innovative insurance products, and of course to enjoy the beautiful mountains! Also a HUGE shout out to Peter, Heather, and Karen for holding down the fort while we were away. It was a super busy three days for them and we really appreciate their hard work taking care of all of our wonderful clients.
