National Truth and Reconciliation Day

Scroll

This Thursday, September 30th, marks the first official National Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada.

The day was created as a way to honor the lost children and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and their communities. In Canada, there were 140 federally run Indian Residential Schools which operated between 1831 and 1998.
